Rooster by Barak Marshall Dance Theatre

Rooster, the second work of Barak Marshall for the Suzanne Dellal Centre, features twelve expert dancers and one soprano singer. After studying Social Theory and Philosophy at Harvard University, Marshall created Rooster, the dance-theater piece, based on Greek mythology, Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, the Bible, and the protagonist of Yiddish writer I. L. Peretz’s Bontsha the Silent, a nice and quiet and always being ignored guy. It reminds us to “Trust your desires and act on them.” Rooster reveals stories in their miniature form. Energetic and vital moves and hand gestures of dancers bring up dense intensity and capture audience’s attention successfully, while his humor immersed in the work makes audience applaud.
